Mākaʻi (Police Officer)

Inspired by the first Honolulu police entity, which was established during the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1846 during a time when Hawaiian was still very much the language of the land in both spoken and printed forms including signage and uniforms, this typographical design allows us to visualize the successful revitalization of the Hawaiian language and reaffirms the fact that it can be used once again in all contexts of daily life (including the government sector) with endless possibilities.

Sport this simplified, Hawaiian-language version of the popular POLICE (H.P.D.) T-shirt. Order this T-shirt here.
